A good investment, according to Benjamin Graham, is “one which, upon thorough analysis, promises safety of principal and an adequate return.” Chartwell Capital Limited, together with Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) Department of Finance are jointly organizing the 2nd Annual Value Investing Challenge 2018.
The challenge aims to promote the value investing approach and encourage students to perform fundamental, bottom-up stock pricing investment research in the Asia-Pacific Region. Contestants are required to work individually to conduct stock valuation, write an investment research report and present his/her research on a company, publicly listed on an Asia-Pacific exchange.
William Tsang, Head of Research of Chartwell Capital hosted two workshops for students in September to discuss the expectations of the challenge. He also shared his experience on various research techniques and investment presentations.
The challenge will end in December 2018, when the finalists present their investment ideas to the judging panel.
